AGORA II. RESURRECTION
József Hámor’s productions focus on high-quality contemporary dance: the versatility of the body, and the interaction of music and space, rather than particular stories. Freed from narrativity, this mode of expression turns the spotlight on the expressive power of gestures, transporting its audience into new worlds.
“The agora was the consecrated communal space of ancient Greeks. In Portuguese, 'agora' means ‘now.’ For me, it is a sacral place where the faith, ideology, passion and hope of the community join to form a unity, a unity that is expressed in the language of dance. The second part of the AGORA trilogy relies on the expressive power of ‘pure dance’ and the advanced skills of nine female dancers, among them Tímea Kinga Maday, who was named best female dancer of 2020. Drawing on their artistic physicality and evocative performance, the production revolves around the diversity, strength and vulnerability of women.” (József Hámor)
